Internet/World Wide Web

 Internet and World Wide Web

We as a society have grown to rely and depend on technology to a great extent, but where did these come from? Are Internet and the World Wide Web different or the same thing? In the late 1960's, the first working prototype or form of working internet was created. The original purpose of the creation of the internet was for the purpose of being able to allow multiple computers to communicate under a single network.

This was started by the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, funded by the U.S. military, but was later adopted by Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf. These computer scientists created the first rue working form of the internet. Of course, the internet has changed drastically from then and now along with technology, but this was a start.

So what is the internet? The internet is a network that allows other computers to communicate and share data. The way we use the internet today is vast in so many ways. Having the ability to send data all over the world in the means of communicating with others, learning through online course online, and digital transactions are just a few examples of how the internet impacts our lives today.

The World Wide Web and the Internet are both confused for being the same thing. In 1990, Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web. Along with this creation, he also created the first website in 1989. The World Wide Web is not the internet by means of a network, but instead in the means of using the network to access websites and hyperlinks. These websites and hyperlinks allow information to be put into a spot for users to access information and data. The World Wide Web is used today in the form of googling information, accessing websites for businesses, and many others ways that make our lives more convenient.

Therefore, the internet and world wide web both make our lives easier depending on how we use it, but they are not the same thing. In fact, yes they work together in the means of using the internet to access the World Wide Web, but they are separate from each other.
